Recessed vs surface-mounted LED channels

Recessed LED channels create a cleaner built-in look when the surface can be cut. Surface-mounted channels are easier to add later and are practical when cutting is not possible.

Choose recessed when

  • The furniture, drywall or surface can be routed or cut accurately.
  • You want the profile to sit flush or nearly flush.
  • The installation is planned before finishing the surface.

Choose surface-mounted when

  • The installation is a retrofit.
  • You cannot cut the surface or want easier service access.
  • The profile itself can be part of the visible design.
Ask for a compatibility checkSend the project type, dimensions, length, voltage, watts per meter or foot, IP rating, profile/diffuser preference, dimming needs and photos. Use the Ledux contact page for the current recommendation path: Contact Ledux.

FAQ

Is recessed always more premium?

Not always. It can look cleaner, but surface-mounted channels can be better for retrofit, serviceability and some design details.

Do both styles use diffusers?

Yes. Diffuser choice depends on profile depth, strip type and whether visible dots are acceptable.

What should I measure first?

Measure available width, depth, strip width, cable exit path and how the diffuser will be accessed.
